Occupational Travel Insurance for Norwegian Government Employees

Norwegian government employees are covered by our business travel insurance on business trips, and during working hours. In addition, the accident insurance is valid during the entire business trip and for 24 hours a day, according to the special agreement about travel expenses for goverment employees.

Insurance abroad

Government employees are covered by the Occopational Injuries Insurance Act and our Occopational Accident Scheme during business trips when performing work on the trip.

International business travel

When traveling abroad on business, government employees are also insured against accidents during the entire trip. According to a special agreement for goverment employees, should a travel accident cause death or medical disability, the employee or his/hers depentants have a right to a financial compensation up to 30 G. 1 G amounts to approximately NOK 100 000 as per 2021. Stationing abroad

According to a special agreement, Norwegian civil servant stationed abroad have an accident insurance with the entitlement of compensation of up to 30 G.

Officials who are stationed abroad or travelling to a location where a possible injury is causally linked to a terrorist act, military conflict, natural disaster or crime, have an insurance coverage of up to 65 G in the event of death or occupational disability.

Officials who are travelling abroad on business to a country where international peace operations are taking place are have an insurance coverage of up to 65 G in the event of death or occupational disability.

Insurance for family members

Family members who follow a civil servant to an employment stationing abroad, are covered by a separate accident insurance. The insurance applies during the entire stay abroad, covering the civil servant's spouse or civil partner, cohabitant and children up to the age of 18 (or including the year that the child completes upper secondary school). International assignments at sea

The agreement applies to permanent and temporary government employees who temporarily perform service on board a ship or a maritime vessel.

A special agreement on compensation at sea has a provision on insurance where the state is responsible for a compensation amount of up to 15 G in the event of death or medical disability as a result of an accident. More about this agreement in the Government Personnel Regulations, in Norwegian.
